Alan Brown is a Tax Principal with Squar Milner. Alan has over 15 years experience in taxation and accounting, including extensive experience with multi-national, multi-state companies. His main focus is on corporate taxation, including planning, accounting for income taxes, and compliance.
Business Experience
Alan’s primary area of practice is in corporate taxation where he performs tax planning, consulting, research and compliance projects for privately and publicly held corporations including large multi-national and middle market C-corporations, S-corporations, and start-ups. His primary corporate industry experience is in medical device, technology and manufacturing. He has extensive experience with complex consolidated corporate transactions, including corporate acquisitions (stock and asset purchases), dispositions of subsidiary companies, international tax issues (CFC and branch operations), and multi-state tax filings (combined state filings, separate filings, apportionment and allocation). His background also includes extensive experience in managing examination with federal and state taxing authorities with regards to corporate taxpayers. Alan has a strong financial accounting background which includes extensive experience in accounting for income taxes (FAS 109) and related disclosures included in Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) Financial Statements. Prior to joining Squar Milner, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for over 10 years.
